UFC 200: Diaz vs. McGregor2, Aldo vs. Edgar
Two big fights have been booked officially by UFC 200 at the top of the card. In the main event Conor McGregor will stand against Nate Diaz while Frankie Edgar will fight Jose Aldo in Las Vegas on July 9 for the interim featherweight title.
“UFC Tonight” made this announcement on Wednesday. The rematch between Diaz and McGregor will also be played at 170 pounds.
The long-rumored rematch to be played between Diaz and McGregor occurs only some months just after their 1st fight broke all pay-per-view records in early March at UFC 196.
Diaz showed his submission to McGregor with a 2nd-round rear-naked choke and handed the Irishman his 1st defeat in the UFC.
Almost instantaneously afterwards, the rumors of rematch began to circulate and presently McGregor will try to retaliate his previous defeat to Diaz when they face each other in Las Vegas at the new T-Mobile Arena.
As McGregor ended up in a tie in a 2nd match against Diaz, an interim champion has been announced by the featherweight division at UFC 200on the same night.
Jose Aldo, the former champion, will be faced by widely considered top-rank contender, Edgar. The winner will walk away as the new interim king of 145 pounds.
Edgar in fact fell to Aldo in a quite close conclusion in his 1st fight back in 2013 at featherweight but from that time the previous lightweight champion has claimed 5 consecutive fights to rank himself at the top of the division.
Aldo will come back to action for the 1st time after his defeat against McGregor at UFC 194, which was his 1st loss in almost a decade. Now Aldo will try to secure a rematch against McGregor meanwhile earning back a title around his waist.
