Washington: Chuck Hagel, US defense secretary, has resigned on Monday, stated his post as life’s greatest privilege.

International media reported that US defense secretary has resigned; Chuck Hagel was pressurized to take this step by national security team. Chuck Hagel resignation came after number of meetings between US president Barack Obama and Defense secretary from last few weeks, sources said.

President Obama has announced the Hagel resignation and stated him an exemplary defense secretary and great friend of him; however, if sources are to be believed the actual decision of Hagel withdrawal has been taken by Obama due to Hagel’s irrelevant strategies against the terror group ISIS.

Chuck Hagel, stay on till the new defense secretary would be decided, who called the post as his life’s greatest privilege said in a private statement that Although, he didn’t make the decision but over security concerns by considering ISIS threat, it is Inevitable to give hold to new leadership.

According to media, unnamed official said that Hagel has been forced to resign as the government has no confidence on Vietnam war veteran and former Republican senator because of some decision he has taken on ISIS militant groups and role of America in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Former deputy defense Secretary Ashton Carter, former Pentagon policy chief Michele Flournoy and Senator Jack Reed (l-r) are some faces which has been considered for next US defense secretary.
