1. British Columbia: The McBarge
The McBarge was constructed for Expo ’86. Its sole purpose was to show off the latest design and tech at that time.
The high-tech McBarge encompassed panoramic views, tasteful art, garden rooms, and its main attraction was its hidden kitchen, having a conveyor belt that was used to deliver hot fries and burgers to the serving counter. The McBarge was linked to a new marketing plan founded regarding “affordable elegance”— therefore, the classy floating bistro touch.
At the end of exhibition, the idea was to get the the restaurant floating to some new place, permitting people to relish their Quarter Pounders in the soothing atmosphere of open water, but the idea was never brought to reality. The restaurant spent more than 30 years anchored, an abandoned and detested relic, offshore in Burrard Inlet, in British Columbia. However, the world is soon going to see a nice change, as Howard Meakin, the owner of the McBarge, has carried the boat to Maple Ridge. This floating artificial platform is located in the center of the Mur River. Vito Acconci, a New York artist, made its design on the event of Graz becoming the European Cultural Capital in 2003. The building depicts a form of a huge sea shell, measuring 154ft in length. 2 footbridges link it with 2 banks of the Mur. The midpoint of the platform creates an arena, and the cafe is a delightful location to enjoy a cocktail or drink coffee.

4. Wilmington: The Chowder Barge
The Chowder Barge was constructed in 1934 as a backing vessel for the movie Mutiny on the Bounty. In order to keep it floating, ferro cement was used to dock it permanently in 1974. This floating restaurant is situated among the many powerboats and sailboats in LA Harbor. There are two options to reach the restaurant, you can ride up to the dock which is the place where Chowder Barge is situated or run a dinghy or small boat to reach the guest dock to start your dining experience.
The barge is a most preferred filming place in the present and past films like Inherent Vice, Sunken City, Wanted, Sons of Anarchy and Dexter, all have been shot in Chowder Barge.
