Gambia: Dozens of Military Personnel, Civilians Arrested
Banjul: Gambia authorities have arrested dozens of military personnel and civilians over failed coup attempt early this week.
Foreign media reported that dozens of suspects including military personnel and civilians have been arrested by Gambia authorities early this week, also seized heavy weapons from those plotters in this West African nation.
Gambia’s National Intelligence Agency (NIA) spokesperson stated that suspected coup plotters have been detained from four different placed in the region while mass weapons have been recovered by Gambian authorities following the raids.
President Yahya said that the attack was not to topple the government but United States, Germany and UK backed terrorist targeted presidential palace but he will not reveal their names, all of military command is with him while some of former soldiers planned the attack on presidential palace.
Nobody can own this place and no one can destabilize this nation, if somebody planning to attack the Gambia then ready to die, he warned.
Earlier, a group of heavily armed men reportedly belonged to his presidential guard and unsatisfied military personnel, stormed to presidential palace, however, Yahya allied military forces have thwarted the attack.
