NA Unanimously Approves Amendment In The Constitution

Islamabad: National Assembly approved 21st amendment in the Constitution and Army Act 1952 unanimously on Tuesday.

According to Pakistani news agency the 21st amendment in the constitution has been approved by lawmakers inside the house, National Assembly members unanimously voted for the amendment for trial of military courts in the country for terrorists.

On Tuesday, National Assembly session has been started with one hour day chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and opposition PPP leader Syed Khurshid Shah did speeches before voting for the amendment.

Each of clauses of amendment has been voted separately by each member present inside the house, no one opposed the modification in the constitution.

Media reported that member of Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf, Jamaat-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam not participated in the session, couldn’t vote for the amendment, however, PML (n), PPP and MQM members passed the Constitutional Amendment Bill with 247 votes.

The bill refers to changes in Consitution and Army Act to form military courts for trials of suspected terrorist following the Tehreek-Taliban militant’s attack of army school Peshawar, the black day in the Pakistan history which left 141 dead including 132 innocent children.
