Rebels say Suicide Bombing Kills At Least 24 in Yemen
SANAA: A suicide bomber attacked at ceremony of commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, killed 24 while 48 were wounded.
Foreign media reported that at least 24 have been killed and 48 wounded following suicide attack at ceremony commemorating the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday in Yemen on Wednesday.
Houthi rebels’ spokesman Mohammed Abdel-Bakis stated that a suicide bomber had blown him up at religious ceremony, where hundreds of people gathered to prepare celebrations for the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, caused killing of 24 people.
He added that the scene is horrific as body parts were spotted everywhere in the area, called it massacre which left 24 died at the spot while other 48 were wounded and hospitalized immediately, however, some of them in critical condition as casualties may rise.
Official stated that responsibility for the attack has not been claimed yet but it is likely that Al-Qaeda affiliate militant group behind the suicide bombing because it targeted rebels in past many times.
