Sir Tom Jones’s wife Lady Melinda Rose Woodward dies
It has been announced that singer Sir Tom Jones’ wife has died after a “little but brutal fight with cancer”.
Lady Melinda Rose Woodward – aka Linda – was married to Tom Jones for 59 years. She died at Cedars Sinai Hospital on Sunday morning in Los Angeles. “Encircled by her loved ones and husband, she died peacefully,” a declaration posted on Sir Tom’s website.
Due to this “serious illness” in his family, he recently cancelled all of his concerts.
Sir Tom is well-known for his famous hits including Sex Bomb, It’s Not Unusual and Delilah, had been scheduled to perform at several of tour dates in South Korea, Thailand, Japan and the United Arab Emirates, but apologized to followers after the sad death of his wife.
Tom met his his childhood sweetheart when both of them were only 12. They grew up together in Treforest, Pontypridd. Then called, Melinda Trenchard, was from a family who owned local cinema. The sweet pair started dating when they were 15 and happily married at the age of sweet sixteen in 1957. Together they had 1 son, Mark, who also serves as Tom’s manager.
In an autobiography in named Over The Top And Back, Tom told they desired more kids, but Linda underwent a miscarriage consequently leaving her infertile.
Talking about the memories of her wife, Tom said while he was enjoying a glamorous and celebrity life, his wife always loved to stay at home. She started to become more isolated in recent years, hardly leaving their hometown, Beverley Hills.
Recalling sweet time with Linda, Tom said, “She is an incredible lady. She is the most essential thing in my lifespan. Everything else remaining is mere games and fun.”
Tom claims to be fond of philandering.

One of his affairs got him another son, Jonathan Berkery. Jones had brief relationship with Katherine Berkery in October 1987, on US tour. Katherine came to know about her pregnancy. Tom always denied the fact which finally concluded at DNA testing, and a US court ruled that Jones was the father of that boy. Jones anyhow denied the findings at first, but finally, admitted them in 2008. He never showed any interest in meeting his son.
