Mexico’s President To Reveal Details of His Wealth and Personal Assets
After the scandal mansion $ 7 million owned by his wife, President Enrique Peña Nieto published details of their personal assets.
Listings, formally known as Equity Statement was updated on December 31 last year. The document states that the Mexican president owns four houses, apartment, four wickets, jewelry, watches and art.
It also has financial investments, savings accounts, retirement insurance, coins and precious metals.
The value of its assets totaling more than 48.5 million pesos, about $ 3.6 million according to their statements of assets published by the Presidency of Mexico.
The detailed publication of its properties is a rare practice of Mexican presidents. In fact just before Peña Nieto did so Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderon, both nominated by the opposition National Action Party.
Mexican law allows public servants withhold their list of goods, because its only obligation is to deliver the reports to the Ministry of Public Service.
Since taking office in December 2012, President Peña Nieto was only authorized to publish a statement of its assets.
But on Wednesday reversed its decision after his wife Angelica Rivera reported the details of the purchase of his mansion into a luxurious Mexico City neighborhood.
