Slash Attack Wounds US Ambassador to South Korea
A man shouting about Korean coalition stormed the U.S. ambassador to South Korea with a knife on Thursday morning Seoul and after this incident police had immediately taken into custody the attacker.
An international media reports, rescue immediately took Mr. Mark W. Lippert to nearest hospital for quick treatment as wounded by an unknown person who slashed badly to his wrist and face.
Lippert was on his way to join a morning lecture in central Seoul when a man stormed him while using a knife and wounded him badly, incident was occurred nearly 8.a.m.
The United States Embassy reported that Lippert is safe and got wounded with minor and being treated at a Seoul hospital.
The S.Korean news channels had reported that man who attacked on US ambassador, had identified by security forces, 55-year-old Kim Ki-jong who stormed Lippert while shouting that ‘South and North Korea should be re-united.’
S. Korean national television showed men in suits and ties piled on top of the assailant who sported a modern traditional Korean hanbok and after the incident Mr. Lippert has taken to hospital with police while pressing his wounded cheek with handkerchief, though the criminal continued chanted anti-war slogans after arrest.
But it wasn’t confirmed that which kind of weapon was utilized in the offence as an onlooker told media that attack was done with a knife but on the other hand, news reports are revealed injury caused by razor. Attack on U.S. ambassador was first time appeared in the South Korean history as never done this before.
A spokesman for National Security Council described that after this incident President Obama talked Lippert through telephone, offer his thoughts for a speedy recovery.
Jen Psaki, spokesman for State Department told Secretary of State John Kerry also talked via telephone and expressed well wishes to him.
