Figure of Muslims in Indian State Maharashtra Jails Goes Up
New Delhi: India imprisoned citizens on religious grounds, in State of Maharashtra every third Muslim has been jailed for no reason.
Indian media reported that the State Minority Commission has surveyed to find out the figure of prisoners jailed on religious ground and what criminal charges they have, revealed that every third person in Maharshtra State jail is Muslim.
The commission studying with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) for a composite survey shown the increase in figure of Muslims in State jail compared to last decade, Muslims comprises 10.6 per cent of Maharashtra’s population, but every third prisoner in the state is a Muslim.
The Survey also stated that State claimed that they would resolve the issues of discrimination and people victimized under religion will be down but figures received from survey stating the opposite as share Muslim prisoners has increased to 31.01 percent which was 29.49 in last decade.
Maharashtra State DGP Sanjeev Dayal agreed the increase described the reason that the economic status of the prisoners is too low as they didn’t in a position to secure bail for them.
