Man Attacks Syed Ahmed Bukhari,Tries To Set Shahi Imam Ablaze
New Delhi: An assassination attempt was made to kill Shahi Imam, Syed Ahmed Bukhari at the historic mosque of Delhi on Sunday evening.
Indian media reported that a 34-year-old man attacked to Imam of Delhi mosque, allegedly threw a bottle of kerosene on him and tried to charge it with lighter to set Syed Ahmed Bukhari on fire but the personal security seized the man and hand over him to police.
Police officials revealed the attacker was identified as Kamaaluddin, the resident of west Bengal. The FIR under section 307 has been registered at the local police station and the accused has been arrested, a police spokesperson said.
The incident has taken place on the Sunday evening when 100 of people were there to offer namaz, the man suddenly appeared from rows at the time of sajda and hurled the kerosene on Imam but get caught by security before he charge it with lighter, Tariq Bukhari, the Imam’s brother told to media.
Special commissioner for law and order, Deepak Mishra stated that attempter has been arrested and intelligence official and special police are questioning him the motive and cause behind the attempt, however, case has been registered and investigation has been continued.
