Saulat Mirza Hanged Over Target Killing In Machh Jail

Machh: The former MQM worker Saulat Mirza has been hanged on Tuesday in Machh jail, convicted for murders of MD of KESC Shahid Hamid, his guard and driver.

According to foreign news agency Saulat Mirza, the former MQM worker, finally executed in Machh jail on Tuesday over triple murder of managing director of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) Shahid Hamid, his security guard and driver.

Saulat Mirza has been hanged around 4:30 early in the morning, the last night he was met his family members and after that his wife and other relative go back to home in Karachi while to receive the body of Mirza his three nephews were left at jail.

Prior to hanging Saulat Mirza was inspected by doctor in death cell where medical officials declared his condition satisfactory, then he was carried out to the gallows and hanged in supervision of a judicial magistrate in the presence of other higher authorities of Machh jail.

Media reported that security has been tighten in the jail for the execution of former MQM worker while reportedly heavy contingents of police were deployed all around the jail region to avoid any unfortunate incident.

Since 1999 Mirza had on death sentence for killing of Chief of KESC Shahid Hamid, his driver and guard in 1998, while anti-terrorism court has issued his death warrants third time after been deferred twice in past.

Earlier, Saulat Mirza was to be hanged on March 19, but his hanging was postponed on the orders of President as investigation team decided inquiry to him following his serious accusations against MQM chairman Altaf Hussain and other senior party leader of being involved in target killings and other criminal activities.
