Sri Lanka Beat England by 9 Wickets, ICC world cup Match Result

Thanks to Lahiru Thirimanne, Kumar Sangakkara’s centuries Sri Lanka named spectacular match victory, match was played at Westpac Stadium, Wellington between them and English cricketers, in which SL named victory England by 9 wickets while playing thrilling innings.

English decided to bat first, openers Moeen Ali, Ian Bell joined wickets but this time Moeen wasn’t appeared in good form and went back to pavilion without scoring much, though Bell defended well Sri Lankan attackers while hitting hard, 49 on 54 balls.

Gary Balance couldn’t face long and lost wicket by Dilshan, after this Joe Root had taken charge of wicket and stunned rivals while hitting badly, scored 121 on 108 balls.

Balance entertained well, playing massive strokes and hit 14/4s, 2/ 6s. England captain Eoin Morgan, who made guilty to their attackers for defeat, couldn’t show well and lost his wicket by scoring 27. Jos Buttler worked hard to gain more runs for good target and after losing 6 wickets English batting line remained successful to create huge target of 309 runs in 50 overs.

 

However, Sri Lankan openers Lahiru Thirimanne, Tillakaratne Dilshan appeared with great passion, shocked English attackers, hitting badly. Thirimanne spotted in outstanding form as played with responsibility, ruled at wicket till end of inning and scored 139 on 143 balls.

Dilshan lost his stamina and collapsed in mid way of this journey, Moeen took his wicket but after departure, wave of hit was seen into the stadium when Kumar Sangakkara joined wicket, who created huge partnership with Thirimanne to complete the given target by England and remained successful to end the game while playing 47.2 over.

Sangakkara considers one of the talented players of Sri Lanka who many played key role to name the victory as did this time and complete 309 runs target in 47.2 over. James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Woakes remained unsuccessful to get wickets this time.
