Virgin Galactic Spacecraft Crashes in California Desert

California: Virgin Galactic Spacecraft ‘Spaceship Two’ crashed in California desert during a test flight on Friday, killed pilot while other was seriously injured.

Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, a passenger spacecraft ‘Spaceship Two’ has been crashed during it first powered flight since January, pilot has been killed while another was badly injured in this crash on Friday.

The suborbital spacecraft was crashed in the desert of California during a test flight in north of Los Angeles, Mojave Desert. Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group stated it a tragic loss for the team of spacecraft, who developed the ‘Spaceship Two’.

Virgin Galactic official said the spacecraft suffered a serious anomaly resulted the crash in which a pilot has been died at spot while other was hospitalized immediately at Antelope Valley Hospital; the wreckage of spaceship is scattered over a large area.

Earlier in the week, the US aircraft company has endured a loss when an Orbital Sciences Antares rocket exploded 15 seconds after launch from Virginia on Tuesday.

The National Transportation Safety Board team will start working to investigate the cause of accident from Saturday morning while chief executive of Virgin Galactic, George Whitesides stated that we do support the investigator to reach at the actual reason, caused accident.

The spacecraft was a prototype of ‘Spaceship One’ which won the $10 million Ansari X Prize as first private development for space, the Spaceship Two has been also developed to carry out people to the space, for which 800 people have paid in advance nearly $200,000 per person.
