This crackdown is considered as one of the major crackdown of modern history in Egypt against any democratic government. This political crackdown has taken the shape of revenge against the previous rulers of the country, it started since the demise of Muhammad Morsi, the country’s first elected president.
Since the downfall of Muhammad Morsi’s government, thousands of his supporters have been arrested and put on mass trials which show that current government is trying to repress its opponents.
Muhammad Morsi won the first elected election of 2012 in Egypt, who was a candidate of Muslim Brotherhood, however, just after a year he was ousted and arrested by military, which started protests throughout the country against the military coup and in the favour of Muhammad Morsi by his supporters.
As a reaction thousands of Muslim Brotherhood members were arrested and prisoners for their role in inciting violation and causing damage to public property.
