Another Islamist Leader Sentenced To Death in Bangladesh
Dhaka: Bangladesh Special tribunal has sentenced death penalty to another Islamist party leader convicted for war crimes in 1971.
Foreign news agency reported that senior secretary general of the Jamaat-e-Islami party has been sentenced to death by special tribunal in Bangladesh on Tuesday, found guilty for his war crimes during war in 1971.
The 62-year-old has been convicted for five out of six charges including murder of hundreds of unarmed civilians, rape, genocide, abduction and looting, he committed during independence war against Pakistan in 1971.
Islam’s lawyers stated that he would appeal against the verdict while a nationwide protested has been scheduled on Wednesday to censure verdict.
Azhar-ul-Islam has 11 person of Jamaat-e-Islami in a row while collectively his execution brings total to 16, who have convicted for war crimes during 1971 and special tribunal sentenced them death penalty.
