Eight Killed In Suicide Blast Near Police Lines Lahore
Lahore: Tuesday afternoon, a blast took place near Police Line in Lahore, killing 8 people and injuring more than 16.
According to sources the police station was the target place but suicide bomber couldn’t cross the security barrier and blew him near the station.
A blast took place during rush hour near Lahore Police Lines today in Lahore. According to the initial reports the Police station located at Lahore Lines was the target of the suicide bomber but due to strict security barriers he couldn’t enter the satiation and blew him just meters away from the station.
Today’s blast came just after 5 when a blast took place in Imam barigah in Peshawar killing more than 22 Shite Muslims offering Friday prayers in mosque. The responsibility of Peshawar blast was taken by Tahreek-e-Talibaan Pakistan (TTP), claiming that it was revenge against Doctor Usman who was hanged in December. However, nobody has yet claimed the responsibility of today’s’ blast.
The blast in Lahore today, took place just metres away from an entrance gate to the Police station, located in the heart of the city.
It must be noted that the road where blast took place is one of the most important and busiest roads of the city and the blast took place during peak hours.
According to video evidences that have been collected it shows that several vehicles were on fire after the explosion and the surrounding was covered in black smoke, people were running in panic trying to save each other.
It is noteworthy that the country has started its military operation against terrorist groups in north western areas of the country, and has increased its operation since the Taliban massacred 150 school children in Peshawar
On the other hand TTP has claimed to continue its operation against Pakistani forces as a revenge for the operation that is being carried out in the north western areas of Pakistan by Pakistan Army against terrorist groups.
It must be noted that since the military operation has started against Terrorist groups, number of highly sensitive spots has been targeted by Talibans as revenge against military forces of Pakistan.
