First Italian Woman Astronaut Arrives At ISS

A Russian Soyuz spacecraft with the first Italian woman astronaut docked with the International Space Station (ISS).

Samantha Cristoforetti joined other crew members aboard the ISS, including Russian cosmonaut Yelena Serova, who arrived there in September.

It is only the second time that two women are simultaneously on the ISS since its launch over 15 years ago.

During his stay of six months, the Italian astronaut perform experiments and appear in a series of video lessons to teach children the importance of recycling carbon dioxide to produce food and oxygen.
