India Police to Use Drone Surveillance After Delhi Rape
New Delhi: Indian police is planning to use mini drones with night vision cameras for public surveillance specially women following Uber rape in city.
India media reported that Police authorities decided to use drones to protect the journey of Indian women in the city followed by Uber rape in Delhi, Police official stated that use of drone surveillance will help to prevent the sexual abuse of women.
Last week, a taxi driver raped a 27-year-old woman so that American Ride Company Uber has been banned by city police; the rape has outraged public over alarming rate of rapes in India.
Police has taken a forward step to avoid such happening, planning to start use of drones with high resolution night vision thermal imaging cameras to cover the streets of Delhi by air surveillance; CCTV cameras also help to protect the women from any mishap and alleged assault.
An unnamed police officer explained the use of drones that a quick response team would be linked to drone streamed videos and images and make it possible to respond the required place soon, although these drone also help to identify the criminals with image-video evidence.
