Kenya University Attack; Death Toll Rises 147 in Garissa University Assault
Multi-ethnic militant organization Al-Shabab fighters stormed a university, north-eastern Kenya and in the result, more than 146 people have killed, it said to be that those who died, in which most were students.
The militants turned Garissa University early hours on Thursday and after shot dead two security guards, randomly shot fired on students when they all were busy in their activities.
A dormitory of the building was surrounded by four of the gunman who wore explosive on their bodies and blew themselves up.
The militant group Al-Shabab has taken the responsibility of this deadliest attack, according to eye witnesses, the militants targeted Christians and hot fired them fatally.
The militants entered inside of campus and started firing, not only this—attacked those students who were busy in their class rooms and preparing for forthcoming examination.
As militants stormed the Garissa University, stampede was seen in the building and over 499 students remained successful to escape, while about 78 of which wounded. The police reportedly has taken into custody fifth gunman.
A student at Garissa, Mr. Eric Wekesa described reporters when he saw randomly firing was being done, so hid himself in a room. He further told militants were crying while saying that they are here to kill us and be executed.
Those people, who wounded in this deadly attack, transferred the capital Nairobi for rapid treatment and it is said that nine of them are in serious condition, medical department told reporters.
In the result of incident, the authorities imposed curfew in Garissa as well as three other counties in Kenya.
The United Nation Secretary General Ban Ki-moon strictly condemned the incident while saying it ‘terrorist attack’ and also assured that UN is ready to help Kenya’s government to remove the terrorists from nation.
