Prosecutors: Captain Would Be Sentenced To Death for Ferry Disaster
South Korea: Prosecutors are looking for death penalty of captain of ferry, sank in April killed more than 300 people including children.
Prosecutors of South Korean ferry disaster incident are seeking for death sentence for the captain of ferry whose negligence killed more than 300 people in April.
The captain Lee Joon-seok should be sentenced to death while the other three crew members would be sentence life-imprisoned, the prosecutors said as they called after the trial concluded. They have been accused for high negligence before and during the sinking as they can save maximum live if make efforts.
The incident occurred in April in while hundreds of people were killed as the ferry sank due to carelessness of captain and crew members who are inexperience as well as immature, ferry sank was happened also due to cargo overload and improper storage.
There was lot of anger and sorrow in the whole South Korea as most the dead were school children hangout for trip, people also questioned the safety standards and rescue arrangement of government. If the safety measures were well standard and in time rescue operation can save many lives, authorities have been asked.
Prosecutors argued that captain Lee just took care of his life at accident while he was responsible for every passenger on the ferry, he can be seen when he has been moving to safety boat while number of passengers were still on ship. There urged to sentence him death for being cause of killing of 304 people.
