US Sentence Life Imprisonment to British Cleric Abu Hamza over Terrorism
New York: The United States court sentenced life imprisonment to Abu Hamza al-Masri, an Egyptian-born British scholar, over terrorism charges.
International media reported that United States court has sentenced life imprisonment to British Islamic cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri on Friday, convicted for 11 different charges including abduction, promoting extremism and supporting terror groups.
Egyptian-born British Imam has been accused for involvement in attacks on the United States and helped al-Qaeda and Taliban militants, instigated people for the killing of non-Muslims.
The judge, Judge Katherine Forrest, read the verdict calling Abu Hamza crimes ‘barbaric’ and ‘misleading, found guilty for the abduction of western tourist in Yemen and establishing militant training camp in Oregon and assisting terrorists of Al-Qaeda group.
The blind Islamic leader has been sentenced after two years; in 2012 Abu Hamza was extradited to the United States from the United Kingdom following prolonged legal war in Britain where he served eight years of jail over violence in the State.
