Watercolor of Hitler Sold 130,000 Euros at Auction
A watercolor painted by Adolf Hitler there has just 100 years was sold Saturday, November 22 auction to an anonymous buyer for $ 130,000 Euros, said the Weidler house which organized the sale at Nuremberg.
Made in 1914, this work of 28 of 22 centimeters representing the Munich city hall was for sale by two elderly sisters, whose grandfather had bought the painting in 1916.
In his youth, Adolf Hitler sought to enroll in the Academy of Vienna to attend art school, but his application was rejected because of a lack of talent. He continued to paint by copying scenes from postcards he sold to tourists.
Following this failure, he had taken over the Nazi party at whose head he was elected German Chancellor in 1933.
Experts consider mediocre artistic production of Hitler and major auction houses generally refuse to provide the works dictator.
