PIA Crashes near Havelian: 42 passengers were on board including Junaid Jamshaid
PIA flight no. PK-661 which takeoff from Chitral and was heading towards Islamabad but area near Havelian the flight lost its contact with the control tower and final words of the pilot was heard as Mayday.
According to the officials of PIA there were 42 passenger on board and 5 crew and Staff members which total 47 persons. Plane takeoff from chitral Airport at 3:30pm and landing time at Benazir Bhutto International Airport was 4:30pm but shortly before it reached to the destination its contact with control tower lost.
PIA officials disclosed its statement right after some time plane lost its contact with control tower:“We regret to inform that PIA’s ATR-42 aircraft operating as PK-661, carrying around 40 persons lost its contact with control tower on its way from Chitral to Islamabad a short while ago. All resources are being mobilized to locate the aircraft. Media will be kept informed as situation develops,” said the PIA.
After some time the news came from the site of plane lost its contact that the plane has crashed near Havelian, Abbotabad and fire and smoke can be seen. Right after few minutes PIA unveiled the data of the passengers those were on board.
Unfortunately famous singer later turned into religious scholar JunaidJamshed was traveling in this plane along with his family. Also the brother of JunaidJamshed confirmed that his brother was traveling in the same plane that has crashed near Havelian.
DC Chitral was also on board in the plane along with his family.
PIA officials confirmed that the Flight no. PK-661, ATR-42 has crashed near Havelian, Abbotabad and the rescue operation is started and helicopters and other services are sent to the location of crash.
No. of causalities and survivors are still not confirmed as the area is hilly and difficult to approach.
