Rescuers Discovered 55 Dead Bodies, Save 3,000 Migrants in Mediterranean
Italian rescuers launched a rescue operation to rescue 3,000 migrants on boats close to the coast of Libya on Wednesday, in which also discovered more than 52 dead bodies, the Italy’s coast guard described.
The rescuers used the Swedish ship ‘Poseiden’ in the EU’s Triton Mediterranean operation and saved 439 surviving migrants with the help of it on Wednesday, Coast guard Lt. Claudio Bernetti told media.
About tens of thousands of people belonging apparently from the Middle East and Africa, were on the way to reach Europe that seems to be alarmingly the way packed into small vessels which didn’t design to cross the Mediterranean.
It was reportedly being reported to rescue to join fast Italian coast guard operations because they received information that Libya-based smugglers trying to take benefit of calm seas which appeared to be best scene sending overloaded boats with migrants to Europe.
Rescuers also found three dead women on a rubber boat which was on his way to targeted destination with more 120 people, while another person was saved along with over 100 others on one more vessel died shortly after that.
When asked the coast guard about the cause of the killings, denied to reveal anything yet. According to latest estimations by the International Organization for Migration, the death toll may have cross the number killings 2,300 which belong to migrations in.
The Italian coast guard spokeswoman told media reporters on early hours on Wednesday that the ship was on his way to Europe the migrant who passed away after a short time the rescue arrival at the scene.
Nonetheless, 10 rescue operations were carried out by the coast guard in Rome on Wednesday as they were being received emergency calls constantly.
The spokeswoman also explained the rescuers faced lots of difficulties during the operations in a region approximately at distance of 30 miles (50 km) from the Libyan coast.
